Sturdy, durable and waterproof, these handmade boots are traditionally worn by the people of Madeira.
The supple leather and hand stitching protect the ankle and enable the wearer to walk long distances.
As many local traditional artifacts, the manufacture of the “botas de vilão“ has been in decline,
but it has lately been revived and is experiencing a new interest by locals and tourists.
On my webshop you will find my new collection inspired by the “botas de vilão“ and by the traditional garments,
straw hats and basket, characteristic of the beautiful island of Madeira.

Ever since my teenage years in beautiful Madeira, I have been making my own clothing.
As a mother and now a young grandmother I have been creating outfits for my two daughters and their sons and specialized in children’s clothing.
Soft, high quality fabrics as cotton and silk, as well as jersey and wool are my fabrics of choice.
Each creation is characterized by my love for detail and colour combinations.
I simply love to refine each piece of clothing with ribbons, piping, embroideries and buttons,
or to detail girls blouses and dresses with beads or with hand embroidered collars and cuffs.
My creations are suitable both for every day as well as special occasions:
I guarantee that your child will look stylish and comfortable at the same time!
During a visit to my family in Madeira I rediscovered the traditional boots
called “bota de vilão“, which are still handmade by local craftsmen with soft leather,
and decided to introduce them to my customers.
A new collection inspired by the traditional garments, straw hats and basket, next to the nature and people
from Madeira now complements the “bota de vilão“ for a refined and laid back look.
